Best of the ‘Betes Blogs: July Edition

(Bigfoot not here, it Katy.)

Hosting BBB is like curating one of those tiny boutiques that sells the owner's favorite paper straws, children's book, ice tongs, kindling bins, dildo, and maybe one kind of t-shirt, with no regard for what the people of the world want, which would be things made from Mason jars, or stationery with owl or mustache motifs.

Hosting BBB is like curating a tiny boutique that sells nothing but the owner’s favorite things (striped paper straws, R. Goscinny’s Nicholas books, flat-eraser pencils, Scandinavian ice buckets, kindling, a sculptural thing might be a dildo/might be a Himalayan salt grinder, and the perfect $87 t-shirt) with no regard for what people generally want. (I.e. things made from Mason jars, shabby chic signs about wine, hot sauce, and stationery with owl or mustache motifs.)

(<—Picture taken the moment the BBB Academy contacted me with the news re who’d be BBB’s July host.)

I am so happy to be hosting Best of the ‘Betes Blogs! I read all of July’s nominated posts, and feel—not to be overly dramatic, but—just so wow about this community of thoughtful, beautiful people sharing their lives.

One nice part of hosting BBB has been finding all of these blogs I’d never seen before. (Which was a lot of them, since I’m pretty provincial.) The other nice part was the power trip: I love being the decider.

This is what I chose.

Best use of humor:

Madster—>All week I wondered are we supposed to climb that pyramid? Answer, according to the Disney cops, is no.

Best Vlog:

Heather—>So much fun. I had no idea these beautiful people were fountain-dancing in their undies right outside the window where my tired family was suffering through a dismal quesadilla. That’s FFL!

Best recipe:

Kelley—>Perfect summer dinner: unburned kebobs.

Best use of Photography:

Jessica—>The gorgeous smile of a girl in bloom!

Best advocacy:

Jojo—>The TSA how-to that launched a thousand toll free calls; one of those calls was mine! It worked.
