I Doubt It

This is not a “before” picture. This is the view from the beanbag chair, where I sat admiring the pantry post-op.

This weekend I cleaned out the pantry slash video game closet. I mean I really pimped it out, relatively speaking: took everything out, cleaned it, gave away a high-shelf-requiring-stepstool Bundt pans from before celiac times, and shelf-papered it. I know. Then I put back the things we use and put them back in a way that makes sense in terms of who needs to reach/see what. I was like a mother from Real Simple.

When it was done I was drawn in again and again, just to admire how much sense it all made. But then I noticed that I have mixed feelings about almost everything in the pantry, except for Glucolift, nut flours, and parchment paper.

Everything else in the pantry has a dingleberry of doubt clinging to it. It made me feel better to get this down on paper. Thank you, Skitch and WordPress. And just like that, the organization of the pantry is complete.

The asterisks mark the area where organic vegan cane sugar, organic coconut palm sugar, organic maple syrup, and then…Truvia are stored. There is nothing coherent about that.

I don’t mean that Republicans are bad, I mean I feel bad about this tea because someone *else* might see the elephants and get bent out of shape. Like when Joe started wearing a Tufts (Jumbo the elephant mascot) belt: “I thought I knew you.” I wish my favorite tea came in a politically neutral—bunny/squirrel/dog—tin.

I’ll go for the Chocolate Chips and Rum bin! We still own a VCR for just one of those “just-in-case” times… And I am feeling virtuous today having cleaning out the garage yesterday. No shelf paper, but less junk and dirt.

Awesome organizing! And a great reminder for me to do the same. Can I hire you to organize my basement? I promise I have no republican or democrat tea bins.

I can clear up one of your doubts! All Muir Glen cans are BPA free these days. The inside lining should be gold-colored instead of white. So unless those tomatoes are really old, you’re good.

Also, I think my pantry would be much improved if I added a chocolate and rum section to it.

YAY! That’s fantastic news. I’m taking that off of my things to feel bad about list.
